2012 London Olympics Qualification(Asian Zone) Group B match day 4

Uzbekistan took a major step towards qualifying for the 2012 Olympic Games when the Central Asians' defeated Australia 2-0 as the third round of Asian qualifiers resumed on Sunday.

Kenja Turaev, who came off the bench to set up one and score another as the Uzbeks defeated Iraq 2-0 in the opening match of their Group B campaign, broke the deadlock 27 minutes into the clash at the JAR Stadium before Oleg Zoteev added to the Nasaf striker's first-half opener with Uzbekistan's second with five minute left on the clock.

The victory saw Vadim Abramov's side maintain their unbeaten run and with two wins and two draws they sit at the top of the Group B standings with eight points, three more than the UAE who defeated Iraq 1-0 in Doha to move above Zico's side and into second place.



Ahmad Ali's early strike was enough for the UAE to edge Iraq 1-0 on Sunday and reignite their hopes of qualifying for the 2012 Olympic Games.
