Eredivisie 2011-12 week 23

Vitesse Arnhem lost their third match in succession after falling 1-0 away to RKC Waalwijk in the Eredivisie on Friday.

A goal from striker Krisztian Nemeth eight minutes before half time was all that separated the sides, the Hungarian's first goal since joining the club from MTK Hungaria.

VVV, who sit third from bottom on the table, won their third match in succession after a 3-1 home success against Heracles.

Goals to Uche Nwofor and Yannick Wildschut in the first 30 minutes delighted the Seacon Stadion De Koel crowd but Lerin Duarte's response on the stroke of half-time kept the visitors in the match.

And they threatened to win a point for most of the second half, with the match not sealed until Japanese forward Robert Cullen struck in injury time.

De Graafschap lifted themselves off the bottom of the table with a 2-0 win at Roda JC.

Rydell Poepon bagged the opener on 26 minutes before Soufian El Hassnaoui made sure of the win with his 91st-minute effort.

In other matches, Leroy George struck a double as NEC Nijmegen ended a run of four successive defeats with a 4-0 thumping of FC Groningen.

PSV Eindhoven edged Eredivisie rivals Feyenoord 3-2 on Sunday. The hosts took the lead just before the break when captain Ola Toivonen finished from close-range after a Dries Mertens cross.

PSV doubled their lead in spectacular fashion on 66 minutes, with Mertens unleashing a powerful 30-yard effort past Feyenoord goalkeeper Erwin Mulder.

But Feyenoord fought their way back into the contest thanks to a brace from Guyon Fernandez. Zakaria Labyad struck an 85th-minute winner.

AZ Alkmaar could only manage a 3-3 draw at home to Heerenveen.

Jozy Altidore netted a brace for AZ, but they were behind on 81 minutes when Luciano Narsingh netted after Filip Duricic and Bas Dost had cancelled out the American striker's two efforts.

Erik Falkenburg struck in the 83rd minute to ensure AZ took a point in front of their home fans at AFAS Stadion.

Elsewhere, a Luuk de Jong goal saw third-placed Twente to a 1-0 win at home over Utrecht.

Ajax hammered lowly Excelsior 4-1 as Siem de Jong netted a brace to go with goals from Turkish attacker Aras Ozbiliz and Jan Vertonghen.
