Chelsea relieved the pressure on manager Andre Villas-Boas on Saturday by posting a 3-0 home win over Premier League strugglers Bolton.

David Luiz opening the scoring within three minutes of the game restarting after the break, before Didier Drogba powered home a header just after the hour mark and Frank Lampard swept home late from Juan Mata's deep cross.





Roy savours ending home hoodoo in style

West Bromwich Albion saw off the visit of Sunderland with a comprehensive 4-0 victory in the English Premier League on Saturday.

Nigeria striker Peter Odemwingie netted twice for hosts West Brom at the start of each half, with the influential James Morrison also on target in the 40th minute at The Hawthorns.

The victory was sealed in injury time when Keith Andrews, a January signing from Blackburn, fired into the top corner to cap off an ideal home debut.





Fulham posted their first away win in the Premier League since October on Saturday with a 1-0 triumph over Queens Park Rangers at Loftus Road.

Pavel Pogrebnyak gave the visitors the lead after just seven minutes and that was where the scoreline stayed.

Terry Connor's first match in charge of Wolverhampton Wanderers ended in a 2-2 draw away to Newcastle United on Saturday.

Hosts Newcastle dominated the first half of the English Premier League contest, as goals from Papiss Cisse and Jonas Gutierrez gave them a deserved lead by the half-time break at St James' Park.

The visitors, led by Connor following the sacking of Mick McCarthy last week, rallied after the break, as Matt Jarvis struck early to get them back into the game.

Kevin Doyle then got earned Wolves a point, scoring the equaliser after Newcastle failed to clear their lines from a free-kick.





Wigan remain bottom of the English Premier League after failing to break down a resolute Aston Villa defence in their 0-0 draw on Saturday.





Manchester City moved five points clear at the top of the table after a convincing 3-0 win over Blackburn Rovers at Etihad Stadium.

Mario Balotelli opened the scoring for the hosts before Sergio Aguero and Edin Dzeko completed the victory.





Liverpool should play with Everton this week, but the match was postponed due to the Carling Cup final match between Liverpool against Cardiff City.
