Malaysia 6-0 Sri Lanka

Malaysia trashed Sri Lanka 6-0 at the Shah Alam Stadium in an International friendly.

The absence of several national players such Ashari Shamsudin, Badrol Bakhtiar, Norsyahrul Idlan Talaha and Khairul Fahmi Che Mat didn’t affect the Tiger’s performance one bit.  Safee Sali was however back from his club Pelita Jaya to lead the attack as coach K.Rajagopal experimented with his line-up.

Wan Zack Haikal opens the scoring after beat the offside trap and calmly beat the goalkeeper to score his first senior goal after received a pass from Safiq Rahim in the 25th minute.

Their deadly combination worked to great effect once again as Safiq delivered another sublime ball to Wan Zack who slotted past the goalkeeper for his second goal of the night.

Malaysia went in search of more goals in the second half and they were rewarded in the 70th minute by substitute Mohd Hazwan Bakri, who scored moments after entering the pitch.

Mohd Hazwan added to his debut goal for Malaysia match by tapping home Shahrunain Abu Samah’s low cross to put the Harimau Malaya 4-0 up.

Three minutes later Pahang striker Azimudin added his name to the scoresheet after Aidil Zafuan’s free-kick hit the post and he was in the right position to tap home.

Mohd Hazwan Bakri completed his hat-rick near the death by heading home Safiq Rahim’s cross to cap a virtuoso Malaysia win which will surely do good to their FIFA rankings.

Malaysia coach K. Rajagobal stated that he quite satisfied with the team’s performance in the second half and urged his men to maintain their good performance in the next fixture.
