Premier League 2011-12 week 31 part 1
Chelsea maintained their push for Champions League qualification with a 4-2 win at Aston Villa at Villa Park on Saturday.
The West London visitors took the lead nine minutes into the match , when Daniel Sturridge slotted home from close range.
It was 2-0 six minutes into the second half, as full-back Branislav Ivanovic headed home Juan Mata's corner via a Fernando Torres flick-on.
Chelsea appeared to be cruising toward a comfortable away victory, before Villa struck twice in quick succession to level proceedings.
Centre-back James Collins headed home Eric Lichaj's long throw on 77 minutes to make it 2-1.
And American defender Lichaj was on target himself three minutes later, getting on the end of Marc Albrighton's delivery.
But Chelsea were not to be denied.
With the home fans still celebrating Villa's comeback, Ivanovic met a floated delivery from substitute Florent Malouda, heading past goalkeeper Shay Given for his second and Chelsea's third.
And there was still time for Torres to put the outcome beyond doubt with his first Premier League goal since September.
Roberto Di Matteo's Chelsea side stay fifth, but are now within two points of fourth-placed Tottenham, who host Swansea City on Sunday.
Villa's second defeat in succession leaves them just five points clear of the relegation zone with eight matches of the season remaining.
Manchester City struck twice in the last six minutes to salvage a 3-3 draw at home to Sunderland in the English Premier League on Saturday.
Hosts City trailed to Sebastian Larsson's goal in the 31st minute of the match at Etihad Stadium.
City levelled from the penalty spot three minutes before half-time.
Mario Balotelli was the man to convert after Craig Gardner was harshly adjudged to have tripped Edin Dzeko.
Denmark striker Nicklas Bendtner restored the away side's advantage with a clinical header from Stephane Sessegnon's cross.
It was 3-1 to Sunderland 10 minutes into the second half, with Larsson on target for the second time in the match.
Balotelli offered hope of a comeback when he netted following a dynamic solo run in the 84th minute.
And less than 60 seconds later City were level, thanks to a thumping long-range drive from fullback Aleksandar Kolarov.
The dramatic draw sees second-placed City close to within two points of league leaders Manchester United.
But the reigning champions will now have a chance to move five points clear at the top when they meet Blackburn on Monday.
