Harimau Muda to face Gombak United in the opening match of 2012 S.League.

The Malaysian U23 team are set to open their maiden S.League campaign with a tricky away tie.

The Harimau Muda A team, who will be participating in the league for the first time, and with a pretty solid track record in South East Asia, are one of three foreign teams in the competition, along with Brunei DPMM and Albirex Niigata (Singapore).

But their first opponent for the 2012 campaign will be a local team. Gombak United who finished sixth last season will be playing host to Ong Kim Swee's boys.

"The fixture draw was very well organised," he said.

"It will be interesting to play our first match away and I believe that it makes no difference in the first few matches whatever the result may be, it is about how consistent you are going to be in the season.

"From from every match, every team will learn and definitely, towards the mid-season, we can identify which team for me, is the most outstanding team."

Defending champions Tampines Rovers will be taking on Brunei DPMM in what could be an explosive match at the Jerudong Park Stadium, while Singapore Armed Forces will be taking on Albirex Niigata, in another interesting affair.
